Jesus died to save us! Jesus rose to keep us! Jesus lives to save us from ourselves!
They callously passed by the Savior as He hung on the cross. They were completely heartless as they yelled, "CRUCIFY HIM!" He hung on that cross and died a horrific death!
He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey with His face set toward the cross. If He had ridden in on a more spirited horse He would have looked kingly. It was prophesied that He would enter Jerusalem in the humble way that He died.
Why did shouts of "Worship" change to shouts of "Crucify Him?"
Many people knew Jesus and admired Him, but they did not recognize Him as a Savior of sinners. He was not in town for a popularity contest; His job was to proclaim truth and provide salvation. Instead of telling the people what they wanted to hear.He told them what they needed to hear. This caused them to rebel against Him and ultimately cost Him His life.
Jesus was well aware of the painful death He would suffer. In His humility Jesus wanted the prospects of a cruel death, and becoming the sin offering for mankind to pass from Him. Nevertheless Jesus said,"Not My Will but Yours be done" Jesus wanted to please His Father. You see, there can be no cross without Christ, because it is Christ alone who redeems our souls with His precious blood. Those who want a Christ without a cross would cry out.."Come down from the cross and save yourself!" Those who want neither Christ nor His cross are untouched by His sorrow, unmoved by His suffering, and unrepentant of their sins that He bore.
Jesus, (the Great Overcomer) made the most amazing comeback the world has ever seen! He was humiliated, insulted, spat upon, whipped, beaten, and nailed to that old rugged cross! They claimed victory and declared Him dead! He was placed in the tomb and the tomb was sealed! For all intents and purposes.Jesus had been counted out! How could anyone be more down and out than that?
Three days later Jesus proved that the struggle to save our wretched souls was not over.it was just beginning! Jesus rose from the grave and reappeared victoriously over sin, death and hell!
A come-back like no other in the history of the world! He died to save us and lives to keep us! We must receive this great gift that God has offered us through His Son Jesus. Christ will receive us if we will believe in Him. When Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, His sacrifice was more than adequate to atone for the sin of all people. Have you accepted Jesus, the Lamb of God, as your Savior from sin? If notWhat are you waiting for? The only way to approach God is on His terms. We must receive the forgiveness He offers to us through Christ. The nails pierced in His hands reveal the love-filled heart of God.
During this Easter season as we celebrate the most important occurrence in the history of man; let us reflect on the reason for the season. Jesus' resurrection is evidence that He through His righteousness redeemed Himself in death and can do the same for each and every one of us as His children. As Christians we no longer have to live under the dominion of death or the power of sin. We know that, since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; Death no longer has mastery over Him. By the same token we can count ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Jesus Christ!
